Sunday Night Cocktail Class with Adam Lantheaume of The Boston Shaker

by glenn on April 20, 2010

We Wineaux are an adventurous bunch – with our ears to the ground, always on the look out for the new and worthwhile, ready to go with a trend if we find it appealing.  A phenomenon of the Ought Decade, cocktail culture has grown in prominence. Every restaurant and bar now offer a signature – or so they hope – cocktail menu. In our travels, we’ve come to look for either good renditions of cocktails from the past or new twists on these classics. We are fans of Drink, Barbara Lynch’s craft cocktail bar. We’ve attended classes given by Jackson Cannon, head mixologist at Eastern Standard. And we adore – yes, adore – the “Model Behavior” at The Woodward Tavern, a sublime blend of St. Germain, Hendricks gin, Chandon Brut, and cucumber foam. When the opportunity presented itself for Adam Lantheaume, proprietor of The Boston Shaker, to conduct a class for us, it became our SNSC event for April. [click to continue…]

SNSC: Tapas and Spanish Whites

by katrin on April 8, 2010

With spring finally here – well, at least on the calendar, if not in actual weather conditions in New England – we were inspired to pick a Sunday Night Supper Club theme that would bring to mind sunny days, the beach, and Mediterranean cultures. What could be better than Spanish white wines paired with tapas?  Our chef for our second SNSC was again the incredible Morgan Bigley, who, in short, wowed all of us with a delicious set of dishes that complemented the wines perfectly.

As guests arrived, we enjoyed the Segura Viudas Aria Brut Cava from the Penedes. A pale yellow-green sparkler, which is a blend of Macabeo, Parellada, Xarel-lo, this cava has aromas of freshly baked bread, green apples, sweet herbs, and honey. Its lively and piquant character was an excellent way to prepare the palate for what was to come. And doesn’t a sparkler set the mood for the evening’s festivities?

SNSC Jan 10, 2010: American Bordeaux

by rodney on January 16, 2010

“To invite someone is to take charge of his happiness during the time he spends under your roof.”
Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin

Happiness was the perfect descriptor from start to finish during our inaugurual Sunday Night Supper Club.  Judging by the accolades from our guests, the experience was one not soon to be forgotten.  Even before the dinner was finished, we were all anticipating the next one.

Guests were greeted with an aperitif of sparkling wine from Roederer Estates while awaiting everyone’s arrival.  After we were all properly introduced and given time to get to know each other, I welcomed everyone to the Sunday Night Supper Club (SNSC) and explained the impetus and motivation for the event.  Our theme for the evening, American Bordeaux, explored Bordeaux varietals and styles created in the US. Sunday Night Supper Club Inauguration

by rodney on January 9, 2010

As you all know, Eleni, Glenn, Katrin and I met while studying wine at Boston University.  We remain connected through our shared passion for wine and culinary experiences.  We are regulars at wine dinners throughout Boston and anticipate the announcement of restaurant week participants with a child’s enthusiasm for Christmas.  As enjoyable as these events are, we longed for a more individualized and intimate experience.

The Sunday Night Supper Club (SNSC) is our attempt to create the same quality experience in a more casual, edu-taining atmosphere without the Pomp and Circumstance (although Katrin assures us that her play-lists will pair equally well with any cuisine).  We invite guest chefs to pair food with the wines that we’d like to share.  Tomorrow’s event is sold out but email us at sundaysupper [at] winedinewith [dot] us or subscribe to our email list if you’d like to attend our next event.

Happy Eating (But don’t forget that New Year’s resolution)
