One of the benefits of growing up in New Hampshire was experiencing maple syrup first-hand. There’s nothing like heading out into your backyard, collecting snow in a bowl, microwaving maple syrup, and drizzling it over snow like caramel. You might remember this from “Little House on the Prairie”; at least that’s what people tell me. I simply consider it a fond childhood memory.
It’s maple syrup season in New Hampshire. And in anticipation of New Hampshire Maple Weekend, I made the “Shot heard ’round the world” (unofficial title) last night. This specialty was entirely new to me until we discovered it on a maple syrup expedition a few years ago. The concoction is simple: half shot of maple syrup, half shot of Jack Daniels. Thank you to our first stop that day: Ed and Jane Thayer’s Fletcher and Family Sugar House in Washington, NH.

Then top off the weekend with our next SNSC.
