Sometimes I find inexpensive Argentine wine to be off-putting and harsh, so I pulled the cork with some trepidation. As the dark purple wine filled my glass, the aromas of ripe berries and spice emerged promisingly. The nose was full of ripe fruits, dominated by blueberries, prune-like plums, and spices. The taste was clean, with a sense of mint or eucalyptus and a bit of smoke and meat. Although there is some spiciness to this Syrah, the characteristic pepper that one gets from this varietal is shy. The mouthfeel is light and well-balanced. Overall, an enjoyable wine, which at $12.99, will probably become one of my new “go to” wines for a casual meal.
